Hotel Maritime
During our trip to Copenhagen in November 1999 we stayed at the Hotel Maritime. This is a very plesant 3-star hotel just around the corner from the old harbour district of Nyhavn, and very close to the terminals for the boats to Sweden. We stayed here again in Summer 2001 on our way to Norway.

We booked by e-mail direct with the hotel on both occasions. In 1999 we got a rate of DKK 775.00 per night for a twin room (including breakfast and taxes). That worked out at around £69 per night (£344 for the five nights). In 2001 the rate we are paying is DKK 875/night (about £75). We think this is pretty good value given the quality of the accomodation and the excellent location.

Hotel Maritime (drawing)This is a very good hotel which we have no hesitation in recommending.
It is close to the restaurants and bars around the Nyhavn, and easy walking distance from the Strøget (shopping district) and many of the other central Copenhagen sights. It is also very convenient for the hydrofoils to Sweden (Malmö), which run from the quayside at the bottom of the street. There is a main bus route (550S) at the top of the street, which takes you to the Central Station (about 5-10 minutes).

The hotel responded very promptly (next day) to our e-mails, with pertinent replies (in good English) from named personnel. The service in the hotel was of a similar standard. The hotel is fully modernised, and the room was reasonably spacious (if slightly odd in layout). The breakfast was good, and coffee was always available from the breakfast room.
