CARLOS QUILICI AND LOS TAURAS TANGO

LOS TAURAS TANGO are one of the notable Tango groups to be formed in Argentina in this current era of Tango.

Created as a quartet in 1995 at the Music School of the Rosario National University and becoming a quintet in 2002, the group has played many times in the city of Rosario and its surroundings districts.

Their repertoire includes tangos of all times, most of them for dancing, plus their own compositions, searching for a balance between tradition and the avant-garde, but at all times respecting the original melodies.

In September 2000 the quartet launched their first CD entitled "Rasgo", which was followed in 2003 by the 2nd CD entitled "¿Bailamos?" ("Shall we dance?") with classic pieces by great tango composers and new compositions by Carlos Quilici, all with a dancing character. Carlos is one of that rare breed of musicians/composers/directors who understands a dancers needs (being a good dancer himself...!), and therefore his music has a strong rhythm driving through it.

This 3rd CD was recorded live whilst on tour in Turin, Italy and Oslo, Norway

LOS RANAS - tango + electronica

On this short CD Carlos Quilici and his fellow musicians explore the possibilities offered by the fusion of traditional tango instruments (the bandoneon, piano and guitar) and the electronic age of computerisation and sound sampling. The result is a fascinating peek into what could be the future of tango... a genre known today as “tango nuevo”.
